Alongside the Good Earth, it is hard to think of a restaurant that has been open longer in Leicester. Tucked just off Belvoir Street, this has always been something of a hidden gem in an unassuming building. A very warm welcome from owner Francesco and his team of well-trained and happy staff. The service here is super well done, I must say. The restaurant had two floors and is way bigger than it looks from the outside. There is also a roof terrace out the back. We were able to have a large party, and the staff were attentive in getting our large order and drinks for the first time. Onto the food, expect classic Italian dishes that the UK loves. Big simple salads, and you can get chips if you want. This, perhaps combined with the hosting, is why Casa Romana has remained popular for so long. Expect solid tasting food here but not overly finessed. I would probably say the specials on the board and the fish were the best dishes we had in our group. For me, the sauces on a few dishes did need a little more love here and there. It seems by and large that some dishes are better presented and finished than others. Portions were hearty. The price point and quality of wine I think many will appreciate in a restaurant that has a busy but somewhat intimate vibe in a well-used and well loved space by city diners.
LOVE this place, beautiful food, friendly staff and lovely warm and welcoming atmosphere. Never fails to satisfy. They currently have a lovely Valentine menu but we’re here for our annual birthday celebration. It’s a tradition that’s in its second decade… this place is that good. Definitely a hidden gem, if you haven’t tried it yet you’re missing out. If you haven’t been in a while…you know what I mean when I say…you’re missing out.
Been here few times now. This is one of the finest Italian restaurants I have been to in England. I mainly come here for the seafood. They always buy their fish fresh and you can tell from the quality. The service is exceptional and the food just sends you in heaven. I will keep coming back here!!!!!
There is a huge problem with this place - once you start coming here you will never want to eat anywhere else! It is an amazing little restaurant that you may struggle to find without Maps as it is anonymous from outside but it is so worth the effort. The atmosphere and the food is exquisite and the staff are friendly without being intrusive.
